Josh Allen is officially a member of the Buffalo Bills.  The Bills held the 12th overall pick of first round and traded up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to select Allen at number seven overall.  Allen didn’t have to wait long to hear his name called as many draft analyst predicted him to be drafted in the top ten.  Two quarterbacks were picked before Allen – Baker Mayfield was selected number one by the Cleveland Browns and Sam Darnold went number three to the New York Jets.

The Bills currently have quarterbacks AJ McCarron and Nathan Peterman on the roster.  McCarron signed a two-year deal during free agency, while Peterman has three years left on his contract.  Allen should be expected to compte for the starting job in the preseason.

Several draft analyst said Buffalo would be a good landing spot for Allen based on the cold, windy and sometimes wet conditions he played in during his college days in Laramie.  Speaking to the media shortly after the Bills made the selection, Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott confirmed the elements was a factor in selecting Allen,

“What you see on tape is size, athleticism,” McDermott said. “We know how important playing in our conditions in terms of being able to throw the football and grip the football. He can make all the throws all that type of stuff were some of the strengths that we saw. Certainly as we know, no one’s perfect. If you take the right approach and the right attitude and work at what you do, you get a chance to improve some of those other areas.”
